A Human Chronicle…

Our race is blessed and cursed by many chronicles, man made-up (read: written down faithfully) or truthfully told by many generations.

Now there is one that has caught my attention; the love/hate affair with BOOZE!

I am no connoisseur of holy texts, though recall some…contradictory texts in different religions. Some explicitely forbidding any ingestion of alcohol and others being milder about the drank of all drinks.

The tales told are known by believers and atheists. In forms of school lessons, movies, video games, books and every day publicity. They are deeply inbedded in our society. Like those subliminal messages of our leading companies,

The story I would like to share with u is about the Homo Imbibens. A “proper” name given to our race by antropologists, who researched our affair with Ethanol. The scholars during the mapping of our shamanistic dawn, came across rock engravings, passage tumbs and bones relating.

The mental journeys in Australia, Ireland, modern Turkey, Scandinavia, Siberia and America have one trick in common; fermentation! The revolution from hunter-gathering communities to settled more complex societies is the key to this joined venture…so they reckon.

I beg to differ!…in our genes it is engraved to be curious and clumsy, so the possibility of discovering fermentation 15.000 years ago after the Wisconsin glaciation (mass extinction of Megafauna> humongous woolly creatures) is more than likely!

Our ancestors were forced into eating cereals and plants, so u can imagine they were a bit bored to say the least…spirituality, nutrician and plain entertainment share this one compelling property called Ethanol.

Hence our wonderful relationship with this releasing dopamine, serotonin and endorphins gift of mother nature…I can hear u thinking! Though have to point out that it is all in the messure and thus disipline.

Enjoy in your life everything at hand, just do not let it enjoy u! Remember one banana a day is healthy, a kilo defenitely not.

May harmony find u.
